April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among the few female players of beach volleyball who have achieved this feat. Alix-Klineman will compete with Ross at Tokyo to win her third gold medal in the coming days. But more than that, Ross will be aiming for her very first Olympic gold. And at the age of 39 this may be her final chance to achieve it. She remains optimistic that she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even If we play our best, I think we could win the gold medal." It's also going to be a matter of chance. Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa in 1982. She grew up in Costa Mesa with her mother, father and younger sister. Ross went on to play in a myriad of sports in Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball, as well as basketball, track and running. When she played in the final sport she stood out. During her high school career she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter in the court for volleyball per her college bio. In recognition of her work, she was honored as in 1999 as the Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. She also captured the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles from 2017. The reality is that Ross played a significant role in the world of beach volleyball before joining the duo. It's true that she has won numerous tournaments, including one with the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through 2013. Together with Kessy Ross was awarded a World Title in 2009, while racing internationally. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor as she left the team. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. Following high school, and for a few many years before hitting the beach as a professional Ross played with the Trojans of USC as an NCAA. And her run at USC was a memorable one. When she was a freshman at the school in 2000 she earned Pac-10 and NCAA The Freshman of the Year honors and earned an All-American. Additionally, she was an integral player for helping the Trojans make their way to the Final Four. Her heart was broken through a tragedy in her life during her sophomore year. However, she was able to make it an All-American again. Over her final 2 years of participation in the Trojans team, she led the Trojans to winning a national title each year. She was a great volleyball player and won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female volleyball player at the college level. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie did not get to see Ross rise to the top levels of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross's mom passed away due to breast cancer when she was a sophomore at USC. In the aftermath, Ross remains near to her mother who passed away. Margie has been an inspiration both in her personal life and at the beaches.
